Leaving Brooklyn

Tonight I’ll be leaving New York and headed to Angoulême, France, where I’ll be an artist in residence at the Maison des Auteurs. The plan is to stay there for about 7 months while I work on the next book and various short pieces.

I’ve lived in Brooklyn for 9 years and now I am pretty sure I won’t be moving back here once the residency is over.  I’m gonna miss it.

I’ll update again from the MdA. Bye!

  1. i wish you a great time in france. can you share with us why you dont wanna come back to brooklyn? what about ny in general? what about pizza island? im kinda sad to hear all of this.

  2. I would love to come back to Brooklyn! But its just not affordable for me right now. Unless I start selling millions of books, I’m going to move out to a smaller city with a lower cost of living for a while.

  3. this is insane! -or i am very naive. i have your book “how to understand israel in 60 days or less” and i really like it and i thought that if one can buy your stuff on amazon and find it in a german library that would mean that you can live quite comfortably of what you are doing. i hope that you soon start selling a million books. alternatively, come to berlin! it is probably the closest you can find to new york and it is sooooo cheap!

    1. Oh Berlin…it may be my favorite city in Europe (sorry, Paris). I actually spent a month in Neukolln working on the book back in 2009 and fell in love with it and I would love to go back one day. You’re lucky to live there!
